Manual gating

Manual gating is a feature of a tube's power supply where the tube switches between the operative (photocathode with lower potential than MCP) and inoperative state (photocathode with higher potential than MCP) according to an input signal. This method is often used for scientific purposes, like ultra high-speed photography.
